TEXT IV
I know I shall meet my fate
Somewhere among the clouds above;
Those that I fight I do not hate,
Those that I guard I do not love;
5 My country is Kiltartan Cross,
My countrymen Kiltartan’s poor,
No likely end could bring them loss
Or leave them happier than before.
Nor law, nor duty bade¹ me fight,
10 Nor public men, nor cheering crowds,
A lonely impulse of delight
Drove to this tumult in the clouds;
I balanced all, brought all to mind,
The years to come seemed waste of breath,
15 A waste of breath the years behind
In balance with this life, this death.
(YEATS, W.B. An Irish Airman Foresees His Death in Rhyme and Reason, An Anthology. Org. O’MALLEY, Raymond. Hart-Davis Educational.)
Vocabulary:
1. Bid (bade, bidden): to tell somebody to do something.

Resolução comentada
Linhas 7-8: nenhum desfecho da guerra os deixará melhores ou piores.
'No likely end could bring them loss / Or leave them happier than before' diz que o resultado da guerra não mudará a vida dos pobres de Kiltartan. Eles ficarão alheios ao desfecho.
Análise das alternativas
A) Errada: não há expressão de esperança de sobreviver. B) Errada: o poema não fala em encorajamento. D) Errada: não é tratado o conhecimento dos perigos.
